Friday. More New Music. Does life get any better than this?
Today we’re running The Shys and a couple of cuts from the newest You’ll Never Understand This Band The Way That I Do (and we think that takes the prize for longest album title of 2008): She’s Already Gone and the rather funky The Hangman.
You’ve heard The Shys before, even if you didn’t know it. Their music is featured in the HBO series “The Entourage” and the Owen Wilson film “Drill Bit Taylor”, among other places. You would almost–almost–think we’re back in the early days of rock: their sound is classic and timeless. Yet, it’s also got some serious drive to it as well and one thing you can be completely sure of is that you’ll be turning up your volume, and getting up moving to the music. Oh yea, they’re that good.
Thanks to Notorious Liz and Aeronaut Records for making sure this music found us!
As always,
Enjoy!

There is nothing better than a debut album to make us happy and today we’re really happy.
We’re pleased to present Computer Vs. Banjo and their debut album titled, oddly enough, Computer. Vs. Banjo. This stellar album has been taking college radio (among other places) by storm and now it is taking Radio Free David, and thus, you by storm as well. These guys really get it, producing cool music, cool web sites, and just cool stuff in general. Be sure to check it out, and hey, when was the last time you played Pong?
We’re running Give Up On Ghosts, and think it works well with our rotation.
As always,
Enjoy!

Hot New Music! What better way to celebrate a Friday?
Today we’ve added in Chewy Marble and their third release: Modulations. Several years in the making, this is a wonderful album and an excellent listen. Chewy Marble was formed in 1995 by Brian Kassan and they have just kept on going. The tunes we have selected for you (Don’t Look At The Sun and Cross-Hatched World) even have Nelson Bragg on drums! All in all, this is a great listen and something worth checking out.
Thanks to Jerry of Side B Music for getting this gem into our hot little hands!
As always,
Enjoy!

It’s a Friday and what better day to jump into the WayBack Machine? Today we’ve dialed in 1990 to bring you Robert Plant and Manic Nirvana. There’s a couple of cuts there that we just had to put into our playlist for you today… the rather frantic Hurting Love (I’ve Got My Eyes On You) and Big Love. If you listen carefully to the lyrics of Big Love you’ll hear a reference to someone else you just might know…
So, we’re happy now and pleased to add in Robert Plant.
As always,
Enjoy!

Another Friday and time for another great release! This week we are featuring not one, but two, tracks from The Brontosaur. yup! From their album (they call it an LP, but when something clocks in with a baker’s dozen tracks, that’s an album to us) The Brontosaurus LP, we’re running Some Of Them Are In Love and Aphid (Wait For The Answer).
No matter what answer you’re waiting for, these guys have it, that’s for sure. With a nice tight and moving sound, The Brontosaur is a good listen and you’ll find yourself stopping whatever you are doing to do so. In fact, they’re playing now as this is being written and, well, let’s just say that completing the thought is hard because the music is way good.
Anyway! We’re pleased to have The Brontosaur in our rotation!
As always,
Enjoy!

They’ve done it again. Who? Sky Parade, of course! They’ve just put out an EP, High On Desire, which Notorious Liz made sure to get into our hands… and as soon as we got it we made sure to put the title cut, High On Desire in our playlist just for you. We’ll be giving this tune a ton of spins, since we’re really keen on it.
Sky Parade has this EP available for just $5.99, which we think is an absolute steal for a great EP. These guys are breaking out all over the place and we are more than happy to feature them here on Radio Free David–be sure to check out their other tunes we run as well (Fire In Your Heart, Losing Control, Stolen Hymns, and I Feel Surreal) which are way great.
As always,
Enjoy!

Fresh New Music. There is simply nothing like it. And today we’re super delighted to present to you The Dan Sheehan Conspiracy. Dan Sheehan has a new album out, titled simply The Dan Sheehan Conspiracy. Dan plays a ton of the instruments on this album, including the guitars, keyboards and vocals, among others. There are a lot of influences here and you can find echoes of progressive rock, hard rock, ballads and everything in between. We love the way this disc flows and think that Dan has simply outdone himself. Conspiracy? We don’t know about that, but we do know that it is darn good tunes–and that’s what matters the most!
All tolled, we like this album, and are running the cuts The Valley and See Kay.
As always,
Enjoy!

Now and then we find new versions of songs in our current playlist. And when we do, we give them a good listen and make a decision. Such is the case today. And, like today, the decisions are easy and if we don’t do it then we would feel bad.
From Journey’s 2006 re-release of Escape we’ve found a couple of nice live recordings… so, we’re replaced our studio versions of Open Arms, Don’t Stop Believin’ and Who’s Crying Now with live ones. And oh, why not… we’ve tossed in Stone In Love, just because we could.
There. We feel better.
As always,
Enjoy!

Notorious Liz is absolutely on a tear this spring and she’s got yet more awesome music for us! This time it is Voxhaul Broadcast with their new album Rotten Apples (and believe us, this album is no rotten apple! It is really pretty good!). We’ve added in the title cut Rotten Apples and are just delighted to be running it for you!
Describing themselves as having a lot of soul proves to be an apt description. They also describe themselves as having a lot of Motown. We would describe them as having a lot of great tunes as well, because that really describes them nicely. Voxhaul Broadcast really spices up our playlist and represents what we here at Radio Free David are all about!
As always,
Enjoy!

Every now and then we step back, take a look at our playlist, and realize there is someone that we really need to have. Such is the case today when we realized that we were completely missing Blue Man Group. Not any more!
Just for you, dear listeners, we’ve added a couple of cuts from Blue Man Group. From their Complex album, we’ve added The Complex, Above and I Feel Love.
And we feel better now.
As always!
Enjoy!
