Snow Patrol

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

We’re happy to put some Snow Patrol into our rotation today! We were in a store the other day and heard the spiffy tune Chasing Cars on the radio… and it didn’t long for us to realize that we should be running that. So, today is the day, and we’ve placed it into rotation. Actually, from their Eyes Open album we’ve added four cuts: Chasing Cars, It’s Beginning To Get To Me, Make This Go On Forever, and Open Your Eyes. We like this sound, and think that it makes a nice addition. You’ll be playing air guitar and belting out the choruses to these tunes in no time!

What else would you like to see in our playlist? Be sure to let us know! We’re listening!

As always,
Enjoy!

Kill The Alarm

Friday, July 27th, 2007

Today’s fresh new music for you is Fire Away by Kill The Alarm. These New York City rockers are taking the music scene by storm with the gritty style of rock. They’ve got a ton of energy matched with great vocals and catchy musical hooks. The lyrics are well worth the listen and there is more than that personal touch in them. Kill The Alarm wanted to bring that live concert feel into the studio, and we think their efforts on Fire Away succeeded in that. All in all, this is a nice addition to our playlist.

As always,
Enjoy!

The Born Again Floozies

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

We have more new music for you today! As you know, Radio Free David provides a voice to all sorts of different styles, types and flavors of music; today is no exception. We’re happy to have added cuts from The Born Again Floozie’s sophomore album, 7 Deadly Sinners into our rotation for you.

The Born Again Floozies have a … unique … sound. They have a guitar (but play it like a piano), a marching tuba, and two (count ‘em, two) tap dancers (no, that is not a misprint) how can their sound not be unique?

This is an interesting album, for sure. It was recorded during the same sessions (and mastered at Abbey Road, no less) as their first album (Novelties, Addenda, and Ephemera, which we are running some selections from), but the focus is completely different. While their first set of songs were, by and large, fun and silly, these are far from that, and instead focus on subjects such as loss and redemption. Of course, the tunes are pretty darn good and we think you will enjoy them.

We’re running the cuts As I Lay Dying, Do Did Does, and the title cut 7 Deadly Sinners.

As always,
Enjoy!

Till Ten Tonight: Prepare To Be Boarded

Friday, July 13th, 2007

We’ve got some very, very new Till Ten Tonight for you today! Till Tonight Tonight is one of our very favorite artists here on Radio Free David; Eric, Steve and Lou is great bunch of guys crafting music for the love it, and their passion shows. Their tunes are written from the heart and soul and the results are, well, wonderful. We stay in touch with them and yesterday they were cool enough to make sure we had these tunes.

From their new CD Prepare To Be Boarded we’re running Still Here, Black Flag and Private Horror Show. As from their first effort (Sailing Under) the tunes are well crafted, poignant and a darn good listen. Plus, they are certainly growing and expanding and these tunes reflect that.

And, here are some of Eric’s notes about these tunes:

Steve sings an awesome vocal on [Still Here]. He wrote the lyrics and I came up with the diddy. “Black Flag” is my first experiment with drum loops.  It’s the first time I put a bass line down on one of the songs as well.  It’s a fun upbeat song. “Private Horror Show” is a song Steve and I collarborated on several years ago and finally got around to recording.  He wrote the lyrics and I put the music together.  I really like what Lou does on the lead guitar.  Really gives it a Dire Straits feel.”

Thanks, guys… keep up the awesome tunes.

As always,
Enjoy!

Pink Floyd

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Just a simple, but neat, change in the playlist today. We’ve replaced out studio version of Pink Floyd’s Keep Talking from w with the live version from Pulse. Why? Well, although the tune is essentially the same, there is a certain energy on the live version that we adore. That, and the addition of the back up singers. Plus, it flowed nicely into our mix this morning, so in it went. Sometimes, life just works out that way.

As always,
Enjoy!

Nancy Forever & The Antlers

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

Our listeners are everything to us (of course!) and when you write in with a request and/or a suggestion, we take that seriously. And we will jump through hoops for you, too! Today’s music is just such a case in point. A little while ago we had a request for Nancy Forever & The Antlers. This one caught us off guard, as we had never actually heard of them. That didn’t stop us, though, and we immediately embarked a quest to find out more information.

Except, finding out more information was darn hard, because as it turns out, Nancy Forever & The Antlers is rather, well, obscure would be a good way to put it. This only piqued our curiosity and by now we were bound and determined to get this. Of course, if we thought that finding information was hard, you can imagine what it took to actually get our hot little hands on this! It took two orders (the first one collapsed) to do it, but we did it… and so today, by listener request, we are really happy to bring you Sellophane Faces by Nancy Forever & The Antlers from their One Hundred & One Heresies album.

It’s all part of our service, you know, as we love making you happy. Even if it means some serious hunting.

As always,
Enjoy!
