Five Foot Nine

Wonderful, fresh music is on tap for you today! Music that will make your toes tap–all of them. Music that springs to life and brings feeling to you. Music that is done by Five Foot Nine (but they stand closer to ten feel tall in our book).
Five Foot Nine is fronted by Michael Hushel, and features the talents of Jason Batchko, Tom Szidon and some sizzling vocals by Laura Coleman (and she has a beautiful voice, to be sure!). The songwriting is solid; the performances are tight, crisp and a very awesome listen. In fact, their self titled album, Five Foot Nine, presents ten tracks of wonder; the front portion of the album is an especially good listen.
We’re featuring the track Sugar from that album, as well as the tune I Was In Pictures (and a good part of our decision was that Laura’s voice shines on this track, which is extremely well written by Michael). Five Foot Nine is not shy at all about using handclaps, horns, cellos, and even a steel guitar (which you’ll hear on Sugar) to create their sound, and they blend it all together into a great album.
If you’re anywhere around Five Foot Nine, be sure to check them out.
As always,
Enjoy!

Where to start with this one? Naked Eyes was hot, hot and hot in the early 80’s with their cover of Alway Something There To Remind Me (penned by Burt Bacharach and Hal David). Of course, having a nifty video that saw a tone of airplay on MTV didn’t hurt, either, when it comes to it. After just tearing it up for a couple of years, Naked Eyes looked like they were here to stay.
