3 Doors Down

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

3 Doors Down is the tale of a small town band having a great sound… and not only having a great sound, but a sound that is so captivating that they jump up onto the national stage. Hailing from around Biloxi, Mississippi, their tune Kryptonite generated such a tremendous buzz that it just HAD to go National. And it did. And they did. And they stayed there, too!

They’ve got some great albums out, that’s for sure. Today we’re adding in two of them to our playlist, and since they’re new to our playlist, we’ve decided to add a full eight (count ‘em…EIGHT) tunes today!

From their debut album The Better Life album we’re adding in Kryptonite (of course!), Loser, Duck And Run, and Be Like That. All in all, we think this is a great album, and one well worth having in your collection.

Then, from their Away From The Sun album we’re adding in Here Without You (of course!), along with When I’m Gone, the title cut Away From The Sun, and Sarah Yellin’.

We’re pleased with these additions, and think they add some spice!

As always,
Enjoy!

AFI (A Fire Inside)

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Are they punk? Rock? Goth? Pop? Electronica? Post industrial hip-hop new wave synth grunge? (We made that one up)

We don’t know. In fact, we can’t tell you. We don’t even think AFI can tell you, and that’s perfectly fine with us. We love it when the sound defines description because (to us) that means it is unique and by now you know how much we love unique. We can’t stay away from it, not even in the slightest.

And we can’t stay away from AFI, either, and today we’re happy to add in their album Decemberunderground to our playlist. We’ve added in Summer Shudder, Endlessly, She Said and Miss Murder (which despite the undertones is a darn fine tune). We think AFI provides a wonderful counterpoint to some of our other artists, and think they fit in nicely. Radio Free David is all about diversity, you know… and we’re not about defining the music. Just as long as it makes our toes tap, we’re good.

And today, we’re more than good with AFI.

As always,
Enjoy!

Dire Straits

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Why not revisit some of our favorite tunes today?

Although they quietly disbanded in 1995, Dire Straits remains wonderfully popular, and their music simply timeless. We dug out our copy of their Live at the BBC album today (probably because we were feeling nostalgic for no apparent reason), took it for a spin, and decided that you needed to hear some of it as well. After all, that’s what we do best, eh?

We’ve added in, then, two cuts from that album: Down To The Waterline (we had to trim a little bit from the beginning) and the long-running Tunnel of Love. Let’s see: live. long. Dire Straits. Oh yeah, Tunnel of Love is a great fit for us. Along the way, too, we decided to replace our current live version of Sultans of Swing with this one. They really get rolling on this version, which got us rolling, which means we need to get you rolling!

We’re pleased to bring these oldies but goodies to you!

As always,
Enjoy!

Philpot

Friday, January 4th, 2008

Are you ready for the revolution?

Philpot asks us this question… and it is a good question.

Originating from Dugger, Indiana (we had to look it up where that was, too), Philpot is stirring up quite a frenzy with their tunes. Take some good hard-hitting rock, toss in some great melodies, add some zeal and passion, and out comes Philpot. They were kind enough to send along their newest album, Hate Writes Better Than Love which includes the nice number Girls Don’t Know. Yeah, you know the drill, it’s in our playlist and we’ve got the volume cranked up. We hope you do, too, although bear in mind that we are not responsible for your speakers. Or your hearing. Either way, you’ll love what happens when you listen to these guys loud.

Oh…the revolution? If this is the revolution… sign us up!

Thanks to Notorious Liz and Toucan Cove for making sure we got this. At least we know who to see the bill for losing our hearing to.

As always,
Enjoy!
