The Crash That Took Me

Friday, March 28th, 2008

We were thanked the other day for supporting independent music, but really and truly, the pleasure is all ours. After all, Radio Free David is dedicated to giving a voice to all of us, and what better way to do that than independent music?

The fun hasn’t stopped, nor will it. To wit…today’s WAY COOL release is by the Dallas based group The Crash That Took Me. From their debut album, Orchestrated Kaleidoscopes, we’re running Julianne which is a tune that we just adore (and that means that you get to hear it a bunch, too). Really, this is a great album, and this tune is wonderful. I don’t think I can do justice by describing it, but I’ll definitely say stay tuned in to hear it; you won’t regret it.

The Crash That Took Me is Dylan Silvers, Fatima Thomas, Beau Wagener, Eddie Thomas, Seth Bohlman and Mathew Treon. They describe their sound as a mixture of music and color, and to that end, we recommend you close your eyes when listening to them (unless you are driving. Then we think that keeping your eyes open is a good thing.) Either way, though, we love this album and can’t wait to hear more from them.

Thanks to Notorious Liz for sending these guys along. She’s got the ear!

And… we’re not done with the independent music streak. We’ve got more on the way!

As always,
Enjoy!

The Greatest Touchdown Ever Scored

Friday, March 14th, 2008

No, no… it’s not a sports thing! It’s a music thing! It’s a good music thing, really, and we’re happy to be running it here for you on Radio Free David.

Yup! The Greatest Touchdown Ever Scored bills themselves as “Violent Space Rock”. We would bill them simply as “pretty darn good”, but that’s just us. And so it is that we’re running The Falling Downtown from their album TGTES, which is full of rich imagery and wonderful soundscapes. We think this makes a good addition to our playlist, and we’re happy to have them on board!

As always,
Enjoy!

Soundpool

Friday, March 7th, 2008

We’ve got more great music from Soundpool today!

They’ve gone ahead and put out another album, Dichotomies + Dreamland, and just like their first one, this is a darn good listen. And as before, you’ll like their captivating blend of shoegaze, space rock and wonderful soundscapes. Plus, as you know, we love a concept album and this one does not disappoint! The album is full of dichotomies and in fact addresses them throughout its length. We’ve added Do What You Love (always sage advice) from this album.

If you are not a fan of Soundpool, don’t worry… you soon will be.

And we offer a huge thank you to Notorious Liz for getting this to us.

As always,
Enjoy!
