Killing Caroline

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Sometimes, you’re just in the mood for some straight-up rock. Come to think of it, that’s the mood that we’re in right now…what to do, what to do… Luckily, we didn’t have to ask that question for long because Killing Caroline fits the ticket absolutely perfectly. We’re spinning their tune Meridian and this just rocks!

Killing Caroline is hot right now, and with good reason. With a tight sound, fast paced tunes that get your feet moving, what’s to like? Just be sure that you turn up your speakers; we humbly suggest “maximum” for these guys. We’re happy to have them playing for you! Now, if you will excuse us, we’ve got some serious rocking to do.

As always,
Enjoy!

Dead Leaf Echo

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

They’re back! Dead Leaf Echo went way, way, way out of their way to make sure that we had their lastest way-cool album: Pale Fire. Despite a mailing problem, they got this gem into our hands and we are more than delighted to spin the title cut, Pale Fire, for you.

Dead Leaf Echo has been in our rotation for a while now with Shell Of Love and Walking Away. This effort is certainly excellent and the sound of Pale Fire is every bit as haunting and rich. Truly, this album is a good one. We like it! Best of all, it is only $12 for a limited edition… what are you waiting for?

Thanks, LG, for all of your efforts!

As always,
Enjoy!

Suddyn

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Hot off the presses from Dublin, Ireland comes Suddyn…and we are just in love with them! We’re spinning Letting Go (the long version, not the radio version… we just dig the long versions you know). Suddyn puts real soul and emotion into their music and it just shows. When we first heard Letting Go we just stopped what we were doing to listen to it…then listened to it again. And when you hear it, you’ll do the same, for sure.

Suddyn is Alan Steil (vocals, piano), Jarrett Steil (guitars, backing vocals), Colin O’Dwyer (bass guitar) and Brendan Connolly (drums) and it sounds like these guys have been playing together for, well, forever. Once again, truly independent music is absolutely stellar.

Thanks to Notorious Liz for getting this to us!

As always,
Enjoy!

Till Ten Tonight

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

One of our very, very favorite artists, Till Ten Tonight, has released their new album: Prepare To Be Boarded. They were super-cool to us earlier and made sure we had a sneak-peak at their upcoming tunes, which we have been spinning for a little while now. So, we’re delighted to be running the final mix for you here on Radio Free David.

We’re running new versions of Black Flag, Private Horror Show, and Still Here. Be sure you check them out!

Till Ten Tonight is an awesome group and an incredible listen…and they are just a great bunch of guys, too. We need to keep an eye on them, because this is not the last we’re going to here from them! (And, I suppose that it is no small surprise that my personal all-time favorite tune, Sometimes Late At Night, is by them. I kid you not.)

As always,
Enjoy!

The Orphans

Friday, May 9th, 2008

We’re getting back to basics with today’s release. Bringing you an utterly awesome sound is The Orphans, an indy group from New York.

We’re lucky to have their new album Alone running, and from that we’ve selected Land and Come Closer. Land is a great tune, of this there is no doubt, and one of those that have the potential to become very big indeed. Come Closer has a really haunting sound and one that we’ve listened to a lot–how can we not share it with you? London’s voice absolutely soars on this album, the group is tight and the entire thing absolutely rocks.

The Orphans are London (vocals), Mike (guitar), Nic (guitar) Stas (drums) and Gesha (bass): together these guys have a great sound! This album, by the way, was recorded and produced by Roger Fife, and was done in the same studio as White Zombie (the Make Them Die Slowly album), the Ramones (their Brain Drain album) and Sonic Youth.

We’re very keen on the The Orphans and are way excited to have them in our playlist!

As always,
Enjoy!

Elika

Monday, May 5th, 2008

We’ve long been a fan of Elika, and in fact have had them in our playlist for some time now. So, we’re super delighted to be able to bring you their latest!

From their new EP, Trying Got Us Nowhere (link goes to iTunes), we’ve added in The Whip. True to their usual style this is a great tune and we are sure that it will quickly become one of your favorites (it already is a favorite for us!). It’s catchy, has a great sound, and is just darn cool. Elika is independent and represents what indy music is all about, so make sure you give them love.

Thanks to Notorious Liz for sending this along!

As always,
Enjoy!
