Ryan Barr

Friday, July 31st, 2009

We’re on a total roll with new music and we’re keeping the cool tunes going with Ryan Barr.

Today we’re adding in the track Away from his self-titled album Ryan Barr. This upbeat number has a cool beat to it and one that we like. We don’t know how to classify this, really. Maybe it’s rock. Maybe it’s dance. Maybe it’s punk. But whatever it is, we certainly like it, and in the playlist it goes for you!

Thanks to Notorious Liz for sending him along to us!

As always,
Enjoy!

Letters VS Numbers

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

They’re back, and they are better than ever before!

Letters VS Numbers, a wonderful group, has once again made sure we have some great new music to share with you! From their newest effort, Bone Tired, we’re running two tunes: Forget Everything and Dear Caroline. And, as usual, we really like these guys. The songs are well crafted, easy on the ears, have a great beat and are ones that we will go back and listen to over and over. Dear Caroline in particular is an incredibly cool song and it conveys depth, soul and meaning.

Bone Tired is a solid effort and one we’re happy to spin for you.

As always,
Enjoy!

Rampant Band

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

From Russia, with love, to you, our dear listeners, we bring you Rampant Band.

Yes, you read that right… Rampant Band hails from Russia but their music speaks a language all its own. And what language might that be? One that will captivate you. From their album Breakthrough / Breakdown, we’ve selected the cut 9 Years for you. This tune, although not the most uptempo song we run here, is spellbinding. The guitar solos scattered throughout are absolutely lovely: aching, soaring, melodic, and most of all make you feel. They are an excellent counterpart to the song as a whole, which (of course!) is really great.

Rampant Band is Rampant Mustard (vocals, piano, keyboards), John Zender (guitars, bass, voice of conscience–we love that, by the way), Matt O’Donnell (guitars) and Kitten (acoustic guitar)…together their sound is way cool and we’re way happy to have them running here on Radio Free David.

And the beat goes on.

As always,
Enjoy!

Dush

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Independent music. We’ve been on a roll and no reason to stop now!

Today’s addition is from Dush, a Canadian band out of Montreal. They sent us their EP Ancient Cities, and from that we’re running the title cut Ancient Cities.

We like this sound…it’s hard driving and well-performed. It will get you up and out of your seat and your toes will be moving (along with the rest of you). Be sure to check them out.

As always,
Enjoy!

Infected Mushroom

Friday, July 24th, 2009

It’s a Friday and brand new music just wandered in our door. And by “brand new” we mean just that…absolutely brand new, hot off the presses, can’t buy it in the stores just yet kind of new. How cool is that?

Today’s treat is Infected Mushroom and their single Smashing The Opponent. This jewel simply grabs you from the moment it starts to the moment it ends, and it never lets up. Cool beats and rhythms underlay a nice melody and lyrics and this is certainly one that you can listen to over and over. And then over and over.

So, be sure to check Infected Mushroom out now. You won’t be sorry!

As always,
Enjoy!

ScienceFictionTheater

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Nothing like good independent rock that makes us happy. And ScienceFictionTheater makes us very, very happy. By magic we ended up with their self-titled release in our hands and we think it is indeed a magic release. The entire album is a very wonderfully crafted one (10 tunes in all), and the tunes are well-written and well performed. They don’t rely on special effects or whiz-bang things, and as they say themselves, “We enjoy making honest music that doesn’t add things like screamers, dance beats, vocoders, etc”. And so they didn’t. And we like their tunes just fine.

They want their music to be timeless. We here at Radio Free David have no doubt at all that it will indeed be just that. It’s good music.

We’ve added the tune Gasoline to our playlist and we know you’ll love it no end. Go ahead. Turn up the volume now!

As always,
Enjoy!
