And as always, we’re totally loving their sound. That’s right–one of our favorite artists, Sky Parade, is back with us. This time we’re spinning their newest,  I Wanna Feel Alive, right here on Radio Free David. Long time listeners will know that Sky Parade is one of our all time favorite artists. Each new release brings with it that wonderful Sky Parade sound and this is no different. Really, we love these guys. Great beat. Great tunes. Great execution. And they just. keep. getting. better. A lot. And every time we get hold of their latest we are reminded just why we like these guys so very much.

So, it is with the greatest of all pleasure that we continue to spin Sky Parade for you. It just makes us feel alive.

Vibrant, upbeat, toe-tapping this tune just rocks right along and you’ll be happy to go along for the ride. It’s a great sound and one we’re really liking here. And I ought to know because this tune has been stuck in my head for a good long while now. Actually, the entire album this is from, Tent, is more than worthy of a second glance.

Today’s treat is Faded Paper Figures and their cut Invent It All Again from their New Medium album. These guys have a great sound: lively, vibrant and just that sort of tune that makes you want to groove to the beat. Seriously, they are pretty hard to sit still to… and I should know, because I’ve been trying to write this while listening to them, and am moving way too much.

The sound is fresh and wonderful and they make a really great addition to our playlist. We’re happy they’re here and you will be too.

The reason is simple: Grayscale and their new album Haunted Hours. Notorious Liz was kind enough to make sure that we got this one, and what a gem it is. Smooth vocals (and catchy, we might add), great musicianship, and very well produced this entire album is one that you want to put away. We’re lucky enough to be running the cut I Suppose I’ll Have To Fall In Love, and yes, we’re totally in love with these guys.

And once you hear them, you’ll know why. Oh yes you will. You might even, ahem, call it a haunting experience for hours.

All puns aside, we’re really pleased to be running Grayscale.

And we’re really happy to be dropping their new tune, This Is What We Want, right here on Radio Free David. Their new album A Varied Program of Stereo Dynamics For Your Wild Nights Alone (and that’s a mouthful, to be sure) is releasing in just a couple of days, but in the meantime, we’ve got you covered.

This is a cool tune: upbeat and moving, it kept us tapping our toes, and our feet and our legs and everything else, and that makes it a cool tune in our book. We’ll be listening to these guys a lot, and what Friday would be complete with The Public Good?

If we like it, we play it, and if not, then not. And that’s certainly the case with the Evangenitals. I just don’t think I could put a label on these guys. Rock? Well, maybe not. Country? Hmm….could be, but maybe not. Alt Country? Closer, but not there. Pop? A good idea, but no. I could go on, but for your sake won’t.

What I do know about these guys is that I really like their sound. Juli Crockett, their composer and lead singer, has a really smooth and compelling voice. I know that I like their rhythms. I know I like their music. I know that I like them, and that’s why they are dropping in today on Radio Free David.

From their EP Evangenitals, we’re happy to be running the tune Hard Luck Song. I consider that pretty good luck for us.

All those, and more, describe the wonderful track we’ve added for you today: Hustler With A Rescue Plan by Derek And The Darling. Straight from their new EP, Rockface, this track absolutely rocks. From the very moment it starts it grabs you, holds you, rivets you, and just makes you get up and move. As the tune begins to fade away, so does the smile on your face; that is, until you hear the tune again.

These guys absolutely rock. Their sound is straight up awesome and they’ve really got a great album here. Solid, solid guitar work, great drums, and just a nice rocking beat throughout. Your poor toes are going to get a serious workout from tapping along (if you are not up and moving), so before listening we suggest you stretch.

And don’t forget the volume. Turn it up!

Today we’re spinning their album Life Lessons and the track Check Me Out. This is a great cut: upbeat, uptempo and pretty much everything you would be looking for on a Friday. Radagun is the husband and wife team of Todd Low and Aimee Ortiz, and what a great duo they make. Aimee has a great voice and the musicianship is wonderful. These guys are tearing it up all over the place and now they are tearing it up here on Radio Free David.

Terry’s music is wonderfully, wonderfully mellow. Downtempo, sort of, sure, but again, labels don’t matter so much, do they? (”Melancholy” would be another label, if one we so inclined.) But it is warm, rich and engaging: it just draws you in close and holds you there as the tune plays. You find yourself moving in time with the music and when it ends you sort of sit up and with that certain, slightly glazed expression that says you were elsewhere realize it stopped. No worries, though, because then the next one starts and all is well with the world again.

I asked Terry a bit about himself. He was really quite candid in his response to the question of why his music is so mellow. His answer? He doesn’t really have one (and that’s a fine answer); he went on to say that he is introspective and reflective (listening to his music confirms this), and that he is content (see previous parenthetical comment). His music reflects, too, his travels over the years and his, ah, multitude of odd jobs. Yeah.

You may have gathered that we like Summer-Winter and you are so right: we do. It’s well composed and well played. It’s smooth and yet complex, all at the same time. The lyrics are compelling and pull you closer in. Terry shares himself and just lays it out there. What is not to like?
